A - Z of issues - this list is by no means exhaustive, but an indication of how hypnotherapy and hypnosis may help overcome or improve certain conditions, actions, addictions, habits, thoughts, feelings or behaviours.

Anxiety (including generalised anxiety, phobias, social anxiety and panic attacks)

I'm sorry to hear that you are suffering with anxiety and or panic, the good news is you don't have to much longer. Hypnotic suggestion and Hypnotherapy for anxiety is very effective. When you are in an 'anxious state' it can be very debilitating, and often the 'fear of the fear' can keep you in that place, that no amount of rationalising can help.

The unconscious mind acts as our 'inner protector', it's main purpose is to keep us physically and emotionally safe. Because the unconscious mind doesn't understand linear time, if we experience a stressful or fearful event or period in our life, either as a child or as an adult, our unconscious mind stores up the experience as a 'danger' to keep us 'safe'. I work by looking to clear the original source of the anxiety and let the unconscious mind know that it is now 'over' and that it is safe to progress in life, I clear old negative beliefs and induce states of calm and relaxation, and sometimes indifference to future situations that would previously have triggered anxiety. I also work to reduce and eliminate the physical symptoms of anxiety and panic such as breathlessness, dizziness, hot flushes, pins and needles and chest pains. The mind and body relationship are circular and as anxiety lessens in the mind the physical symptoms reduce and vice versa. I specialise in Hypnotherapy for anxiety and panic so you'll be in good hands.

Ailments (including tinnitus and IBS) - IBS, tinnitus and all stress related physical illnesses.

I work with stress related physical illnesses by using both hypnoanalysis and hypnotic suggestion. Hypnotherapy to uncover and resolve any emotional issues that may be aggravating your symptoms and hypnotic suggestion to induce states of wellbeing and relaxation, promote healing and reduce overall symptoms of stress.

For all physical complaints I strongly advise you seek medical advice and receive a diagnosis, once you have this, Hypnotherapy can be a fresh approach either alongside or as an alternative to conventional treatment.

Binge drinking

As with any other habits, if you are ready to change then Hypnotherapy can be very effective in setting you free from destructive patterns. By identifying the triggers that cause you to seek release with alcohol (i.e. boredom, loneliness, stress, frustration) hypnosis can help you find new, more constructive ways to deal with your feelings. I look to help resolve the unconscious drive behind the behaviour and I anchor states of indifference to alcohol, so you leave the sessions with a more relaxed, moderate approach to drinking.

Bulimia

When working with bulimia, I tackle it from 360 degrees, using direct suggestions to stop the binge / purge cycle, reduce levels of anxiety and increase self esteem, emphasise feelings of well being, explore early memories and relationships to clear unhelpful and limiting beliefs, identify and release secondary gains (reasons for continuing with the bulimia) and finding more constructive ways to deal with the triggers - loneliness, boredom and anger. Allowing you to move forward free from your old patterns with a healthy attitude to food, your body and yourself.

Childhood abuse

If you suffered physical, mental, emotional or sexual abuse as a child feelings of fear, shame, guilt, low self esteem are often far too common, and they can play out in behaviour; aggression, drug and alcohol abuse, money problems, relationship troubles, sexual problems, self sabotage. But these feelings and behaviours are not fixed, it is possible to change them. With the gentle use of hypnoanalysis to heal the inner younger self that experienced the pain of abuse and by releasing and clearing the toxic messages you received, you can move forward with your life as a strong, self-assured adult, free from the past.

Confidence

Confidence a lack of confidence or feelings of low self-esteem can affect people quite drastically. Hypnotherapy can boost your feelings about yourself very quickly, bringing welcome changes and giving you back control of your thoughts and feelings.

Depression

If you feel depressed or have been suffering for some time, Hypnotherapy can be extremely effective in getting to the root cause of your problem and setting you free. There are chemical changes that occur within your body when you become depressed, depression often starts at a time when you feel unable to cope and so you withdraw. I work to undo the mental blockages that are preventing you from moving forward. Once these are released, you can begin to feel free and in control. One of the symptoms of depression is believing that it is permanent but this is not true, there is great hope and I have seen many clients go on to live fulfilling, happy, rewarding lives who simply didn't believe they could at the first session.

Habits (including hairpulling and nailbiting)

Habits are often indicative of inner anxiety, and they are often unconscious, so you are not even aware that you are doing it. They can be frustrating and hard to change through will power alone. Sometimes it is necessary to use Hypnotherapy to uncover the unconscious motivation behaviour behind the habit, often hypnotic suggestion is powerful enough on it's own.

Insomnia

Whether your insomnia consists of not being able to switch off from daily events, a fear of not being able to fall asleep, stress or anxiety or a combination of all three, Hypnotherapy can be a wonderful aid to a good nights sleep. I work to set your mind at ease at bedtime and create positive thoughts and habits around sleep.

Pain Relief

Pain is nature's way of telling us that something is wrong, so under no circumstances would the pain be completely removed, but, your own mind can be taught how to greatly reduce the pain and make it manageable. It is essential that you see your GP first to establish the cause of any pain and once the source is known, and it is deemed appropriate to use hypnotherapy, pain relief and management could be achieved. Hypnotherapy may be extremely beneficial when used for dental or surgical preparation.

Relationship issues

Perhaps you keep getting caught up in the same 'kind' of relationship even though you vow not to? Perhaps you'd like to be in a relationship but are struggling to attract one or the 'right' one? Perhaps your relationships have been unfulfilling up until now? Relationships with others, particularly romantic are often reflections of our relationship with ourselves. For example; if you are overly critical of yourself you can attract a critical partner or there may be old unconscious beliefs that you don't 'deserve' a relationship. Often if we are not in a relationship but would like to be in one it is because our fear of getting hurt is stronger than our desire to get our needs met.

We also look at self-talk, how you treat yourself and work on building self confidence and raising self esteem so you can get back out there feeling good ready to attract the relationship you really want.

Self esteem

The messages we were given as children has a huge bearing on how we feel about ourselves, so we look to heal old toxic messages you were given or you might still be giving yourself. We also work with the unconscious mind to help induce positive 'self-talk', and I get you focused on what you do want in life and how you do want to feel.

Weight loss

I specialise in hypnotherapy for weight loss and I tackle it from 360 degrees. We look at your lifestyle, stress levels, beliefs around food, I anchor states of indifference to trigger foods and we look at how you talk to yourself and your confidence levels. People often believe they need to lose weight to feel good about ourselves, but in fact the opposite is true, by getting you feeling good about yourself you'll naturally lose the weight. By looking at lifestyle and patterns of thought and feeling around food, I help clients quickly get back in control. This isn't just about losing weight it's about maintaining your target weight and setting up healthy eating patterns for the rest of your life, by using hypnotherapy for weight loss you'll be taking the first step to making this happen.

Quit smoking

Smoking is costly to both health and pocket, and it is a habit that doesn't 'make sense', however it can be very hard to stop through sheer will alone, and a lot of smokers tend to have a 'love / hate' relationship with cigarettes. I work with hypnotherapy to quit smoking by anchoring states of indifference and aversion to cigarettes and focusing on how good life is going to feel when you are smoke-free. I also look to alleviate any fears you may have about giving up smoking, including putting on weight. By booking a 'hypnotherapy to quit smoking' session you'll be setting yourself free from the 'smoking trap' once and for all.
